Valentine’s Shenanigans

What? A post so soon after the weekly scheduled one? I know, believe me, this was a last minute decision on my part, so I’m just as surprised as you.
I wanted to post today because it’s February 1st and that means it’s almost Valentine’s Day. Normally, I would be less than excited for this “holiday” because I’m a single pringle and I don’t have a valentine.
But this year is different. No, I don’t have a valentine (bummer), but I have created something fun to do that has made me excited for the holiday that the greeting card companies love the most.
In the last few months, my manager has added a pretty cool little twist to my job. I get to be our coordinator for fun activities at work. I went to her and asked if I could start planning things for the branch where I work to kind of boost morale, and she thought it was a great idea.
One of my favorite parts about this part of my job is sending out the emails. I did get my feelings hurt a little bit because I found out one of my coworkers doesn’t pay attention to my emails unless it has something to do with lunch, but I can’t let her dismissal of the other emails get to me. Sending out the emails is fun for me, and een if they don’t go over with everyone, it’s okay because I still had fun typing it up.
I was so excited to get things going for Valentine’s Day that I actually decorated about a week and a half before today. I wanted to get things going and bring a little brightness to our workspace.
First, I decorated my workstation.

I already had my lights up for Christmas, so they’ve just been set to pink since Christmas was over. They have a remote, so I can control what color they’re on, or if they blink or alternate or anything like that. I plan to leave them up year round and just play with the colors.
The “Count Your Blessings” is something I put up just to have another decoration during all the time. And the little photo frame that says “Live Laugh Love” was a Christmas present from my manager.
I added the cute little pink envelope, which is made out of wood, and seriously adorable. And I also added the heart on a stick, and the gnome. Y’all, I love gnomes!

I gotta tell you this story. A little before Christmas, I found out my mom didn’t like gnomes. I wasn’t like this huge gnome fanatic, but I liked them and thought they were cute. Well, after finding out my mom didn’t like them, I started messing with her by pointing out every gnome we saw in the stores. Well, I ended up falling in love with them. And mom even kinda likes them now, so HA!
Also, there are gnomes for every season now, so be prepared to see them more on here.
Now, for the thing I’m most excited about. My plan for my coworkers for Valentine’s Day.
I hit up the Dollar Tree and got some little decorations; hearts and red things, little gift bags. And then I tackled our bulletin board that had the same decorations for over a year. I think it turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

The plan is for everyone to bring in valentine’s for each other. It can be one of those little cartoon things like elementary kids get, or something homemade, or just candy, or a little trinket; whatever they want to get that will fit into the bags I hung up on the wall.
It’s nothing extravagant, but it’s out of the norm. And it’s at least a little exciting. Even if it’s not exciting for everyone at work, it’s something that can boost morale and bring a little happiness to the space.
I really enjoyed putting our bulletin board together. And I have plans coming up for St. Patrick’s Day, and for Easter. Hopefully I can continue to bring a little something to brighten our workdays a little bit.
And absolutely feel free to take my idea, or use it as inspiration for your own work places or schools or homes or whatever you want to do. I want this blog to be an inspiration, and even if it’s just one person that it helps, that means it’s worth it.
So, there’s what I did for Valentine’s Day. Stay tuned for St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!
